Sunday Santa part 2

Hi ya Sisters, here he is all finished!

I'm very happy with this handsome fellow. The end steps were a bit fiddly but worth it. Does this make up for my lack of other Christmasy makes??

I bought a part kit (face, hands, beard and pattern) from Auckland Festival of Quilts. The designer is Cameron-James Designs the Santa is called "Winterberry Santa". His beard is pure Tibetan Lambswool, it is SO soft!. By the way he is made over a wine bottle that is filled with kitty litter or similar to weight the bottle.

enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

thoughts while placing the last stitches..................

Just put the last stitch in the binding on my daughter's 21st quilt, will share more photo's once she has received the quilt.
As I was stitching I was thinking how lucky I am to work at a fabulous quilt shop, then I thought aren't we all lucky to have such a fabulous place to visit and feel happy just from being there!
Kerryn you have created a really lovely little community by having your lovely shop.

Just my evening thoughts!

Happy creating Sisters!

Hello poppets!

Thinking of Robin Williams, seems so sad. Boy did he make me laugh over the years. Mrs Doubtfire and Good Morning Vietnam would be my two favourite films.

Anyway sharing today three finished blocks of my Wendy Briggs Piecemakers quilt. Kerryn has made the same quilt, but used Kansas Troubles fabric (currently with the quilter!)

Block two, block one is on my blog. Kerryn you will notice something different here from the pattern..................no log cabins. I just wasn't sold on them, so 2" squares it was to be.
Next block three.

Nice to make time for some me sewing. Off to do some work on my daughters 21st quilt............the big bright sunflower and poppy quilt!
see you Wednesday night!

Making time for sewing

                       Hello Sisters!!

How are you on this mixed weather Sunday? Happy with time to be creative I hope.
I decided this afternoon was a good time to start my daughters 21st birthday quilt.
The following photo is the quilt I am modelling her's after, the same but not, if that makes sense?

Serena's will be similar, but I couldn't find the same fabric, but something close. This is the image Serena fell in love from Pinterest.

So let the cutting & sewing begin!

Enjoy your Sunday.

a break from quilting

Over coffee this afternoon I read about the Hottie Project...............well what's a girl to do?

Lisa over at Big Little posted about making hottie covers for the cold kidlets in Christchurch. So I just had a rummage through my fabrics & found the cute creamy, ever soooo soft polar fleece with sheep on it. I think this is what I used last year when I made some.

Any how sister's if you can manage dropping what you are doing & whipping up one, two or twenty if you please!

Back to quilting!

Getting ready for April's get together...............................

My last block of Chateau Hexagon ready to bring along, maybe a stitch or two will happen............nice to be working on this again.
Also something I managed to finish..............................Love it or hate it.......I LOVE IT!!!

A bit of an 'up-cycle'/transformation of a 70's china cabinet. From this:

To this:

Do you like my handle?

One of Mum's old Sylko wooden spools!

I know these photo's aren't the worlds greatest, but I have done a bit of Decoupage in the back of the spot where my china tea cups are. Derek gave me some old sheet music, plus I found some vintage sewing paraphernalia, even a bit of lace & tape! I had heaps of fun.

Sunday quilting

Hi sisters! Here's hoping your Sunday is going well. I am busy (except for this minute!) quilting the Gail Pan BOM "A Merry Christmas Garden". Lots of ditch stitching..................................

This seems like such a big quilt, but I have quilted larger. This one measures 60" x 70".

Such a sunny morning that Simon had to keep me company, snuggled in my sewing machine cover.

So here is the flimsy, looks quite pretty.................now back to the quilting!

retreat temptations..........................

Aurely & Rachel are doing another joint retreat project, a sweet angel bag. A stitched Angel on a flap.
When I saw Aurely choosing agonising over fabric I said oh I LOVE that bag, she said why don't I do it too.......................sooooo I went home after the New Years Launch & started rummaging through my fabrics.

Then I went to Opera in the Garden (lovely by the way), thinking thinking...............then this morning when I got to work the  first thing I did was choose a Cottage Garden Thread...........now that's all I want to do!

Aurely!*&#@!!!

How are you blogging Sample Sisters??? Not much bloggy activity!

Sunday sewing

Hi gals,

Wanted to share my little wall hanging I finished today. The stitchery only took an evening to stitch up. I used Cottage Garden Thread 'Waratah', it goes well with Lynette Anderson's Scandinavian Christmas fabric.
This is a free pattern from Anni Downs called 'Home for Christmas'. Raeywn prompted me into getting my 'A' into gear when I saw her finished walling hanging. The pattern & Raewyn's samples were done using applique & stitchery, whereas I stitched my design.
I had thoughts to give away, but I have hung it on the wall, oh it looks nice! But now feel greedy, maybe I can stitch another?

Another wee piece finished, is another design by Anni Down's called "Christmas Wreath' ( not a freebie). I was given the kit by a friend. This stitched up as quick as lightening!

I hope your Sunday has been productive?

a wedding

sharing a nice photo of my nieces wedding.

The tables had china tea cups with floating candles, the saucers had small glass vases with wild flowers & roses, an old vintage suitcase  for the gifts of money as requested.
The photo below is of us four 'kids'.

Look at these cuties.............................

Stars in my eyes

I haven't made any more stars from my Star Mastery class but I did make another type of star.............................

This is like a mock Leymone star, I found the tutorial here......................

Fun to make!! I used a charm pack & some cool fabric for the background from our favourite shop! I might just have to make more!

Happy stitching sisters!
