Sunday Santa part 2
Hi ya Sisters, here he is all finished!
I'm very happy with this handsome fellow. The end steps were a bit fiddly but worth it. Does this make up for my lack of other Christmasy makes??
I bought a part kit (face, hands, beard and pattern) from Auckland Festival of Quilts. The designer is Cameron-James Designs the Santa is called "Winterberry Santa". His beard is pure Tibetan Lambswool, it is SO soft!. By the way he is made over a wine bottle that is filled with kitty litter or similar to weight the bottle.
enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

thoughts while placing the last stitches..................
Just put the last stitch in the binding on my daughter's 21st quilt, will share more photo's once she has received the quilt.
As I was stitching I was thinking how lucky I am to work at a fabulous quilt shop, then I thought aren't we all lucky to have such a fabulous place to visit and feel happy just from being there!
Kerryn you have created a really lovely little community by having your lovely shop.
Just my evening thoughts!
Happy creating Sisters!

Friend's and Companions Sew Along
My sew along quilt top is complete. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of being involved in a sew along. Thank you Raewyn for introducing me to Pam's blog and explaining to me what sew alongs are all about. Thank you Kerryn for your help with fabric selection. As always your eye for colour and combinations was 'spot on'.

Jeni from Woolen Willow's sew along
I am right up to date!! A great sew along with wool applique. The first time I have appliqued with wool and I am loving it. I am using aurefil wool thread and whip stitch. The thread 'blends' in so well with the wool fabric.
Jeni ran a competition to name this quilt and our very own Leeanne won. The quilt will be known as 'Life of Plenty'. Congratulations my fellow 'sister'. Leeanne's prize was a box of wool aurefil thread. She will have lots of fun with that I am sure.
I have no idea what is coming next but cats and pumpkins have been mentioned by Jeni. As for size? Jeni doesn't know yet what the finished quilt will be like, she appears to be designing as she goes. I wonder what this week will bring?

Productive Weekend
I love weekends where you have something to show, and weekends where you get time to do something for yourself ... not trying to be selfish or anything!!
First block of Breast of Friends finished, so finally it is underway.
Also managed to finish the binding on the Layer Cake quilt I started at Retreat for Ian and Christine's joint 60th birthday. Beautifully quilted by Leeanne... no photo sorry, you will have to check her blog or her Facebook page.
Here's to a good week for you all my friends x

To Cheer a Child
I have had a fun Saturday afternoon sewing a pillowslip and cushions to go with Annalese's quilt. She inherited a new bed today so was keen to glam up her room a little!! Used a lot of bits and pieces left over from her original quilt (especially on the cushion backs which you cannot see here) with the addition of a yellow and orange weave.
Hope you are all enjoying a nice, restful weekend and managing to squeeze in a little sewing. Hugs.

Hello poppets!
Thinking of Robin Williams, seems so sad. Boy did he make me laugh over the years. Mrs Doubtfire and Good Morning Vietnam would be my two favourite films.
Anyway sharing today three finished blocks of my Wendy Briggs Piecemakers quilt. Kerryn has made the same quilt, but used Kansas Troubles fabric (currently with the quilter!)
Block two, block one is on my blog. Kerryn you will notice something different here from the pattern..................no log cabins. I just wasn't sold on them, so 2" squares it was to be.
Next block three.
Nice to make time for some me sewing. Off to do some work on my daughters 21st quilt............the big bright sunflower and poppy quilt!
see you Wednesday night!

Rainy Day Achievements
Too wet to work outside and no family interruptions meant a great day of sewing for me yesterday.
First a finish. The last Breast of Friends block completed, now to start putting the quilt together
Second my Antique Quilt nearly there!
The last of the blocks have been put together and now it just needs to be all joined up. The blocks have been joined since this photo so just the rows to go.Finally a new start. The first block completed from the Friends and Companions Sewalong. Thank you (I think!) Raewyn for introducing me to Pam Buda's blog. Thank you Kerryn for guiding me with fabric choice, I am very happy with the outcome. A new block by a new designer is posted for the next 10 weeks so I look forward to seeing what comes next.
This is what Mother Nature dumped on us this afternoon!! A 10 minute hail storm, some of the hail was golf ball size. Brian and I were out working in the orchard and boy were we pelted. I think I will have a few bruises tomorrow.
The hail is still on the ground, 3 hours later. Have a great week all my fellow 'sisters'

Making time for sewing
Hello Sisters!!
How are you on this mixed weather Sunday? Happy with time to be creative I hope.
I decided this afternoon was a good time to start my daughters 21st birthday quilt.
The following photo is the quilt I am modelling her's after, the same but not, if that makes sense?
Serena's will be similar, but I couldn't find the same fabric, but something close. This is the image Serena fell in love from Pinterest.
So let the cutting & sewing begin!
Enjoy your Sunday.

Meaningful Words
Another block stitched and finished, thought the words were very meaningful to share with my fellow sisters. Missed being together tonight but sometimes life gets in the way for all of us. Wherever you are in your corner, hope you are keeping warm and dry and finding time to stitch. PS and just for good measure the picture insists on going on sideways .. so for those who find it hard to tilt their head the words say "Friendship is a sheltering tree" Hugs to you all

Breast of Friends is Getting Closer to a Finish
Another block completed, 13 down and 1 to go!! Of course once the blocks are finished the putting together needs to be done. A look at the quilt pattern indicates that is not straight forward so maybe the putting together will take as long to complete as the making of the blocks.
Have a great week my fellow Sample Sisters, hope you can fit in some sewing/stitching time.

a break from quilting
Over coffee this afternoon I read about the Hottie Project...............well what's a girl to do?
Lisa over at Big Little posted about making hottie covers for the cold kidlets in Christchurch. So I just had a rummage through my fabrics & found the cute creamy, ever soooo soft polar fleece with sheep on it. I think this is what I used last year when I made some.
Any how sister's if you can manage dropping what you are doing & whipping up one, two or twenty if you please!
