Sunday sewing

Hi gals,

Wanted to share my little wall hanging I finished today. The stitchery only took an evening to stitch up. I used Cottage Garden Thread 'Waratah', it goes well with Lynette Anderson's Scandinavian Christmas fabric.
This is a free pattern from Anni Downs called 'Home for Christmas'. Raeywn prompted me into getting my 'A' into gear when I saw her finished walling hanging. The pattern & Raewyn's samples were done using applique & stitchery, whereas I stitched my design.
I had thoughts to give away, but I have hung it on the wall, oh it looks nice! But now feel greedy, maybe I can stitch another?

Another wee piece finished, is another design by Anni Down's called "Christmas Wreath' ( not a freebie). I was given the kit by a friend. This stitched up as quick as lightening!

I hope your Sunday has been productive?

a wedding

sharing a nice photo of my nieces wedding.

The tables had china tea cups with floating candles, the saucers had small glass vases with wild flowers & roses, an old vintage suitcase  for the gifts of money as requested.
The photo below is of us four 'kids'.

Look at these cuties.............................

Gail Pan's latest BOM

Here it is!!!! 6 month BOM. Patterns due in mid Jan! Hope you like it!

Thought you might like to see Gail Pan's latest BOM which she posted on facebook yesterday. Some of you might have already seen it. Isn't it stunning. I love the colours and the mix of stitchery, applique and piecing. Apparently the pattern will be available in January.

A finish (thankgoodness)

I have finished the last of the town blocks for the My Town quilt and just have the centre and corner blocks to go. I think they will be very easy after tackling this one!! A very challenging block with lots of tricky hand stitching. Good luck when you get to it Raewyn.

Have a great week my fellow Sample Sisters.

Not patchwork related!!

This is what I nearly walked into when out pest monitoring yesterday!! These naughty bees have left home and made themselves a new nest in one of our young avocados.'

Isn't this lovely, a nearly black iris. Even after living here for 3 years we are discovering new plants 'popping' up.

For you Leeanne - The tricky block

This is why I had to stay behind after class!! Lots of concentration required. Whoops I haven't trimmed up yet.

This is what can be achieved when one has a quiet house to themselves for an hour on a Sunday morning. Husband still sleeping and no grandchildren staying over!! Loved doing these blocks Raewyn. They went together so well, thank you.

This is what greets me first thing in the morning when I look out my kitchen window. This wonderful old rose has an amazing perfume. The windows get opened wide so I can enjoy.

Have a great week all my fellow 'sisters'.

Stars in my eyes

I haven't made any more stars from my Star Mastery class but I did make another type of star.............................

This is like a mock Leymone star, I found the tutorial here......................

Fun to make!! I used a charm pack & some cool fabric for the background from our favourite shop! I might just have to make more!

Happy stitching sisters!

stars, stitching & quilting

I have been doing a spot of quilting on a special quilt for one of our Sisters, her name starts with 'D' & ends with 'i'.........................but before I did that I had to make another of Raewyn's cool star blocks.

Loving the Kansas Troubles fabric! A nine patch star to add to my two I made in class on Wednesday.

Last night I finished the stitchery for my dolls apron, already for our doll making day.
I hope you are all having happy creative weekend.

another top for the quilting pile!!

My whirlwind scrap quilt is together and has been added to the other 2 quilt tops on the quilting pile. Now to move on to some more finishes. I have one top waiting for the borders to be added, 2 piles of completed blocks to be turned into quilt tops and even more blocks for 2 further quilts somewhere down the line. Of course I haven't mentioned all the part completed small projects!!  No doubt just like the rest of you I have no shortage of projects I can work on. The biggest challenge is time!!

A small project

What is it

All is revealed

This is a small project I managed to complete over the weekend in between the big project - Wallpapering. The room is all papered now and looks great. Just some painting to complete and new curtains to be made. I have volunteered the curtain making and will happily let Brian do the painting!!

This Better Work

This is very much a trial and error post using a different browser so let's see what happens here.  Now to look for a photo to post with it!!!!!!!!!!!!
Moving right along, let me see if I can add a second photo ... if this works then Kerry I will tell you what I tried different (under Raewyn's tutelage of course!!)
Okay Kerry if this works then I changed my browser and used Google Chrome!!!!!!!!!!!!
(Sorry the pictures are boring, old and reasonably uninformative)

Just to see if I can do a post from my end

Seems to work fine. Not sure what is happening for you gals that are having trouble.
This is a wee raggy quilt made from the leftover 5" squares from my Angel story quilt. I bought the book, a Jelly Roll, charm pack & some fat 1/4's to make the quilt. I won't win any prizes for the photo. It measures a whopping 25" square.........yes 25" square............huge aye! i'm sure it will look cute as a table throw or something.

Good luck bloggers!

A finish

My retreat quilt all finished and I am very happy with it. It brings lots of memories of our time in London for our daughter's wedding as that is where and when I bought the material. Don't look too closely at the quilting Leeanne. I promise I am improving and after Saturday's great class I am on a roll, that is until I come to the feathers in the latest Birdy Love block!!

As you can see Raewyn I have 'cracked the code'. In my case it was my settings in windows 8. I don't know enough about computer land to know exactly what I did but hey it is WORKING!! Thanks for all your help.

Winnie Twins

Still struggling with this blog ... but here are the two Winnie's that came to stay at our house.
One can be found nestled amongst the fabric in the store!  The other is hanging at home, sharing the warmth of the fire in the living room!!  I cannot load more than one photo so blogger is still frustrating me!!  Hope you are all keeping warm and dry and stitching up a storm on this rather wild and wet day?  Hugs x

Another "LATE" Achievement

Finished!! Block 2 of Country Friends ... just have to find Block 1 to go with it ... any suggestions as to where it might be hiding??
Now there was one more achievement/challenge that we were meant to have undertaken this month that I seemed to renege on, but can I say this I just love what all my other sisters came up with ... well done to the lot of you xx
